I am Roz Chapman and this website is a passion of mine - documenting the history of the commercial buildings in the shopping precinct of New Norfolk. It has been a mammoth project with many hours, months, now years of research.

The project is ongoing and probably won't ever be complete because there is always something new to discover. Think of this site rather as an evolving, living historical map of New Norfolk. Some areas are well-charted, while others are still being explored.

While this website and the vast majority of the research within it are the result of my own independent investigation, it would not have been possible without the generous support of local experts.

I am particularly grateful to Damian Bester of the New Norfolk and Derwent Valley News, for his enthusiasm and sharing his extensive local knowledge and photos. This has been a huge help and inspiration.

Also a big thank you to Ruth Binnie and the New Norfolk Historical Information Centre for providing access to their invaluable archives, and to the many contributors to the various Facebook groups including New Norfolk Memories and New Norfolk Genealogy & Tasmania History.

If you have any information or photos to share, please send me a message, call me on 0403-858-210 or pop in and see me at 56 High Street.
